Farmers Bank & Trust was established in 1914 and is the oldest bank in Rawlins County, with branches in Brewster and Oberlin. We are proud to celebrate four generations of hometown ownership and are committed to the communities of Northwest Kansas. Barney Horton’s grandfather, W.R. Horton, was a founder and one of the original stockholders and directors of the bank. W.R. Horton, Jr. then followed in that same position and Barney’s son, B.D. Horton, serves on the Board of Rawlins Bancshares, Inc.

Farmers Bank & Trust co-founded the Second Century Fund in Atwood and Barnabas Horton still serves on that committee. We are also strong supporters of the hospital, theater, economic development and hosted a free fireworks display for years in Atwood.
